What is Acupuncture Dry Needling?

Our chiropractors and physiotherapists have undertaken further training in the use of dry needling and western medical acupuncture, as a treatment for pain in musculoskeletal conditions.

Acupuncture is one of the many skills used by our therapists as part of an integrated approach to the management of acute and chronic pain. Treatment is based on scientific research and clinical evidence that acupuncture can reduce pain by stimulating the body to produce natural pain-relieving chemicals, such as endorphins, these assist the body’s healing processes complimenting other treatments such as manual therapy or exercise in order to aid recovery. Western medical acupuncture follows modern medicine diagnoses and uses evidence-based treatment principles, whereas traditional Chinese acupuncture follows the historical concepts of meridian channels and balancing ‘qi’ or energy.

Dry needling acupuncture involves the use of single-use, sterilized disposable needles inserted locally into the problematic tissues at specific points, or alternatively into selected segmental points along the spine that are directly connected with the patients presenting condition. Your therapist will determine the locations of these points following a detailed assessment of the cause of your condition.

Trigger point acupuncture may also be used to help relaxation in specific muscles following traumas, for longer-term chronic unresolved muscle pain, or as a means of increasing functional muscle length to help stretching and rehabilitation. Trigger point needling often produces rapid results in both acute and chronic cases

Dry needling can help with
a variety of conditions including:

Osteoarthritis

Muscular pain

Headaches

Repetitive strain injury

Our chiropractors and physiotherapists use dry needling acupuncture either as a stand-alone therapy or combined with other therapies to aid your rehabilitation, optimising your recovery.

Many of our therapies are covered by private health insurers, and you can also see us via a referral from your G.P – so please do ask. If you’re paying for yourself, we’ll find a treatment plan that fits your budget. We work with all our clients to provide the best possible value for their money.

Some Kind Words From Clients

Saw Aaron today for slightly ingrowing toenails and he was excellent. Didn't hurt at all. Booked up again for my next visit. I definitely recommend him.

Having suddenly been incapacitated after putting one foot in front of the other I sought inmediate help from Hannah at AP. It turned out I had a suspected bulging disc which was horrifically painful. I was treated with acupuncture and a series of stretches over a few weeks, the pain subsided within the first week and the next few sessions really losened up my back so I was able to concentrate on stretching. I have been pain free and back to normal for many weeks now. If you get a problem I strongly recommend you go straight to the professionals to get it sorted I cant thank them enough
